LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

Sports Shirts
The P&C have purchased new sports shirts for teams to wear when competing at competitions and representing Jones Hill State School.
The Volleyball teams wore these with pride when playing and looked amazing. Thank you to the P&C and your continued support of our children.
Volleyball Teams
Congratulations to the Jones Hill SS Volleyball Teams that competed last term and improved under the coaching of Mrs Elson. The team spirit, encouragement, support and the way the children played the games was outstanding. Mrs Seed went to watch them play and was very impressed with their improved skill level, enthusiasm and they way they had a can-do attitude. So proud to see them winning games and doing their very best. Thank you to Mrs Elson for the exceptional job coaching these students and building their confidence to be real competitors.
Positive Behaviour
We have been receiving positive feedback from the community about Jones Hill students’ excellent behaviour. On the Year 6 Canberra Trip we had multiple comments about the great behaviour, listening skills, engagement and questions from the students. When our students went to meet the Queensland Rugby League team, last term, the NRL and QRL shared we are a great school to work with, the kids were extremely well behaved, listened and were ready to participate to a high level. The Year 4s attended the Playback excursion and the owner commended the children on their admirable behaviour. So good to hear about our students following the school expectations of Safety, Learning, Respect and Relationships to a very high standard.
Kind Regards,
James Watt - Principal
Stacey Seed – Deputy Principal

This week on Tuesday, students in 4J, 4B, 4K, 1D, 2A and 2C have been getting their hands dirty for a great cause—planting trees to help create a safe habitat for local koalas right here on school grounds. It’s been wonderful to see each class contributing to this important environmental effort. In addition, Year 4 proudly presented the Koala Action Group with the funds raised from their fundraising stall last term which was part of our endangered animal unit and our Mathematical modelling task. A big thank you to our school community for your generous support in helping protect our precious wildlife!

2025 PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE
We are delighted to invite all JHSS students to join in the 2025 Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC).
The PRC is not a competition but a way to encourage students to develop a love of reading for life. Students are encouraged to select a range of fiction and non-fiction books suited to their reading ability and record books read during the reading period, from 6 May to 22 August.
To complete the challenge:
- Prep to Year 6 must read or experience at least 20 books
Experiencing books can include shared reading, listening to stories, or reading picture books. The aim for the 2025 challenge is to encourage students to make time to read. Last year saw more than 216,000 children from around the state participate.
Book suggestions are available on the PRC website:
Every student who completes the challenge, and returns the completed record reader form, will receive a Certificate of Achievement. We look forward to seeing as many of our students as possible take part in the 2025 Premier’s Reading Challenge.
