LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

Mathematics and English Challenge

We would like to congratulate our year 5 and 6 students who travelled to Gympie West State School last week and competed in the Mathematics and English Challenge. The students had some very difficult questions that challenged their thinking. The students also had to work as a team in both a mathematics problem solving relay and a narrative writing relay. We are so proud of the way all of the students conducted themselves, showed respect to supervisors from other schools and gave the difficult challenge their best effort.
Congratulations to our English Team B who came second in the Narrative writing task with only one point between first and second places. The team worked together to create a narrative about survival where the characters had to scale the Amazon after a plane crash and traverse anaconda infested forests with dangerous hippos and crocodiles chasing them. Congratulations to all our amazing students for taking on this difficult challenge.
CHOIR PERFORMANCES

BOOK WEEK DRESS UP
At Jones Hill we love reading and have some excellent readers who enjoy books, digital texts and other forms of literature. We will be celebrating Book Week by Dressing Up this Friday 22 August. The theme this year is: Book An Adventure! Remember to get your costume ready and join in the fun! The Gympie Regional Library will be here to share literature and authors books with some of our classes.
SCHOOL FUN RUN - CRAZY COLOUR DAY
We are super excited to announce that we will be holding our event on Friday, October 17 on our school ovals! This is an inclusive fundraiser we would love everyone to be a part of! There are new prizes and incentives. We will still be raising funds in the lead up to our event for Technology resources across the school and our Year 6 Graduation with a target of $20 000 so we’re asking all families to pitch in!
