Leadership Team Report
Hi Everyone,
QParents
I am pleased to inform you that our school will be providing parents with access to a new, convenient, online parent portal called QParents.
The QParents web and mobile application provides an easier way for you to interact with our school. Parents will have secure, online access to their child's student information, anytime, anywhere, through a smartphone, tablet or computer.
QParents allows parents to connect instantly with our school to access and manage their child's student information, including:
- Attendance and absence details, as well as the ability to notify the school of an absence
- Behaviour information
- Academic report cards
- Class timetables
- Viewing unpaid invoice details, payment history, and making payments online
- Viewing and updating personal student details, including medical conditions and address
- Enrolment details
QParents will assist both staff and parents in sharing and responding to information in an efficient and effective way.
It won't replace the traditional ways you communicate with our school, but it will provide another way to communicate with us!
The benefits of QParents
Convenience and time savings for parents
- Parents can view or update their child's details without having to contact the school.
- Secure 24/7 online access.
- Available anytime, anywhere â access QParents on your smart phone, tablet or computer.
Greater transparency of information
- Improves accountability between parents and schools by providing parents with timely access to their child's information online.
- Allows parents to engage more deeply in their child's schooling.
Improved administration efficiencies for schools
- Allows schools to streamline their administrative processes and cut down on printing.
What do you need to do to get started?
On Wednesday 23rd August we will be sending out letters inviting one parent or guardian for each student to become a QParents Account Owner (QPAO). The QPAO will be able to register for QParents to access and manage the student's information online. A student's QPAO will be able to view the student's information and submit requests to update some of the student's details.
The QPAO will also be able to invite other people (such as another parent or family member), to view the student's information. Once invited, these people can register for QParents as "delegated viewers". A delegated viewer can see the student's details, but cannot make updates.
When you receive your invitation email or letter, simply follow the instructions to register your QParents account. The process should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Invitations sent by email will only ever come from no.reply@qparents.qld.edu.au. You will not be invited to register from any other email address or organisation.
If you do no not want to register you can just ignore the invitation and your child's student information will not be available to anyone through QParents.

GYMPIE AND DISTRICT ATHLETICS SPORTS CARNIVAL
The Gympie and District Athletics Sports Carnival was held on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 August at Albert Park. This is the first year that they combined the primary and secondary carnival. Both days ran exceptionally smooth and we are extremely happy to announce that Jones Hill School placed first overall in the Gympie Primary Schools Competition. Student athletes from our school not only performed to the best of their ability but their behaviour and sportsmanship was outstanding. Congratulations to all the students involved and thank you to Nat Bates for the supervision and great organisation of our students. Jones Hill School is very proud of you all.
DISCOVER DAIRY COMPITITION
Year 3/4C recently entered the Discover Dairy Competition. The class worked hard and together created a picture book for their entry. While creating their book the students enjoyed learning the importance of teaming calcium-rich dairy with exercise and safe sunshine for positive bone health. Over 100+ primary classrooms across Australia participated. We are happy to announce that year 3/4C were successful and came away with the Bronze award.
PREP 2017

Bangers & Math Night
The Gympie Mathematics Alliance (Gympie West, Gympie Central, Gympie South, One Mile, Two Mile, Jones Hill and Gympie State High Schools) held the first Bangers and Math night on Tuesday. Over 270 people enjoyed a sausage sizzle, jumping castles and a family mathematics session. Research shows that the more actively interested in their child's education a parent is, the higher the educational outcome for that child will be and it was great to see so many mums, dads and grandparents there supporting their children's learning.
The session was presented by Rob Proffit-White, a renowned expert in the teaching of mathematics. Rob spoke about how numeracy is taught and gave parents lots of helpful hints and tips to assist their children feel confident in mathematics. Every family took home a gift bag with games, counters and dice to play at home.
Thank you to all of our families who went along. If you couldn't get there this time, there will be another Bangers and Math night held in Term 4. More details will come out closer to the time.

Camp Australia News
During Outside Hours School Care this week we had a circus theme. The children participated in making circus tents, clown faces and practiced juggling with ping pong balls which they enjoyed. The children have also been practicing throwing and catching small balls which helps with their hand eye coordination. The children worked collaboratively together to paint a couple of boxes in recycled craft to represent clown cars, which they have used in team races, as well as some added fun indoors and outdoors this week. Physical activities are always popular and the children played a lot of cricket, all taking turns with batting and bowling. Soccer and touch football are also popular group sports activities we do each week.
It has been asked what we have on offer for afternoon tea. Each day we have a selection of fruit and vegetables. Camp Australia this term started a Healthy Eating Program. We have been testing out some of the recipes in the cookbook. Some items we have had this term are damper, peach upside down cake, spaghetti scrolls, Anzac biscuits, apple chips, banana bread and health slice. We still have many more recipes to test.
Kind Regards, Vesna Cvetkovic
