LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

Hi Everyone,

It is hard to believe that we are nearly half way through the term!

2017 will be here before we know it.

Relay for Life

I would like to congratulate our staff, parents and students who took part in the Relay for Life over the weekend. It is a great donation of their time and fundraising efforts to contribute to a cause that touches us all at some point. The two Jones Hill teams raised over $3 100. While the Gympie total was over $124 000 and climbing at the end of proceedings yesterday. A great effort!

2017 Staff

Planning for the 2017 school year is underway. At this stage we will have some staff transferring to new locations and some new teachers appointed;

Miss Kyte has received a transfer to Maleny State School.
Mr Littler will take a position at Nambour State College next year.
Mrs Hooklyn has received a transfer to Pormpuraaw State School.
Mrs Mansfield will be on maternity leave for 2017.

Teachers who will join us in 2017;

Mrs Renee Ryan – Transfer from Wide Bay
Mrs Sandie Gills – new appointment
Mrs Emma Millers – transfer from Emerald

Student Resource Scheme (SRS)

Information will be coming home this week explaining the change to the Resource Scheme for 2017.

The benefit of this scheme is the bulk buying advantage and students having all the right materials to maximise their learning. Items will be replaced as needed. The booklist cost has been estimated to be between $130 - $200. The SRS fee will be lower than this amount.

Payment options will be available. If you choose not to participate, you can collect a booklist from the office and you will need to provide your child with all the books and stationery on the list, as well as any replacements for lost or damaged equipment throughout the year.

If you have any questions regarding the SRS please contact the office.

Please click on the link above for further information.

Same Day Absence Notification

The safety and wellbeing of students are the highest priorities for our school. Parents need to know if their child hasn't turned up for school, and schools need to know when and why a child is absent.

As of next week we will notify parents on the same day that any student is absent from school without explanation via a SMS text. Parent/s will receive an SMS text based on the mobile number that they have provided the school.

It is very important that your details are up to date and correct in our OneSchool system so that you are able to be notified. Please call the office on 5489 0555 if you would like to update or check you details.

If your child will be absent from school please notify us using one of the following options:

  • Q Parents
  • Leave a message on our absence line 5489 0566
  • Phone our office on 5489 0555
  • Or send a signed written note from the parent with a sibling

Kind Regards,
James Watt and Helen Grogan
