LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Hi Everyone,
Awards Night
Our Awards Night is on this Thursday December 1 in the school hall starting at 7pm. Please join us and celebrate the successes of our students.
Christmas Concert
This year our Christmas Concert will be held on Wednesday 7 December from 6pm in the school hall. It will run for approximately one hour. There is a gold coin donation upon entry for the Music program. Along with each year level presenting an item, there will be performances by the Choir and even a surprise!
Students, please dress in a Christmas shirt (other basic Christmas accessories welcome) unless you are assigned a particular role (Year 3’s). Some Year 4/5W, 4H & 3/4’s have nominated to play an instrument during their song thus will need to bring it.
Road and Parking Safety
We would like to remind everyone to please drive safely around our school and be aware of our students’ safety. In particular, please take care around our crossings.
Nothing is more important than the safety of our students and no matter how much we educate our children in road safety, there will be times when children who seem to know all the road safety rules won't necessarily remember to follow them. So it is important to be very vigilant with road safety around the school. Please ensure you follow the signs when picking up and dropping off your children.
Recently we have had cars stopping in the no standing zone near both gates. This is a dangerous activity and it reduces the vision of students crossing the road and cars approaching the crossing. Your assistance in keeping our students safe is appreciated.
Also we have had cars continuing to do U-turns in areas that are not designated as a U-turn area. This is a very dangerous act.
You must not do a U-turn:
- across a single or double continuous centre line
- across a continuous centre line to the left of a broken line
- over a painted island in the centre of the road.
To safely make a U-turn, you must:
- have a clear view of approaching traffic
- complete the turn without blocking the free movement of traffic
- give way to all vehicles and pedestrians.
Please do not make U-turns in the driveway of neighbouring private residences or local businesses.
Student Resource Scheme
We are excited to announce that Nextra Newsagency in Gympie will be supplying all our stationery needs for students in the 2017 SRS. Congratulations to Michael and his team for all the effort that they have put in. This is great news for Jones Hill School as it further strengthens our relationships with our local community.
For those participating in the SRS please make payment or partial payment by Wednesday December 7. If you have any concerns regarding payments please make an appointment to discuss payments with the office.
There have been some changes to the booklists and they will be sent home to those who require them in the last week of school.

All Are Welcome to Attend.
2017 GYMPIE SHOW AND GYMPIE MUSTER
Are you interested in volunteering to help at the 2017 Gympie Show or Muster? The P&C is considering tendering for services such as parking control or ticket sales at the show or muster next year, as a fundraising activity. This would need a large number of volunteers, so before deciding if we submit a tender we'd like to find out how many people would be interested in helping. Gympie show dates are May 18 - 20 and the Muster is from August 24 - 27. Volunteers would be rostered on shifts, so would not need to work every day. If you are keen to volunteer, please email us, or leave a message at the office and please specify which event - muster or show. pandc@jonehillss.eq.edu.au
