LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

Hi Everyone,

During the last week we have air-conditioned the last of our class spaces, the music and instrumental rooms. This means we have 100% of our learning spaces air-conditioned. Once again, congratulations to our P&C and school community. A great effort in a short period of time.

Over the weekend our school grounds hosted the Indigenous Health Screening where the whole community could take part in health screening, rides and food.

As we continue to prepare for our athletics season, the oval has been marked out and the long jump pit moved from the bottom oval to the top. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Phil Rentz, our new groundsman who has put a lot of work into preparing and organising the area.

Kind Regards,
James Watt and Helen Grogan

Canberra Trip 2018

Last Wednesday the first meeting for the Canberra 2018 trip was held. It was very well attended. This week an invoice for $350 will be sent home to all students who returned a positive expression of interest. This trip is limited to 68 students. If your child no longer wishes to attend this trip, please indicate on the permission form and return to the school office. The invoice will be removed from your child’s account. If your child is attending, please sign the permission form to indicate this. If you have not returned a form and would like your child to attend, please do so before Monday 22 May.

There are some very important points listed below. Please read these points and if you have further questions contact the school office. The dates for the 2018 trip are Sunday 24 June to Friday 29 June. The itinerary for the trip is similar to last year with a few minor changes and will be confirmed in Term 4. There will also be a cost for a bus to take the students to the Maroochydore airport and a bus to pick the students up from the Brisbane airport and transport them to Jones Hill School.

Due to the length and distance of this trip, we have high behaviour expectations.

i. All students attending the 2018 Canberra Trip must be on Silver behaviour level or higher. Students on bronze level will be looked at on a case by case basis.
ii. Students accounts must be up to date in 2017 and 2018 before attending camp.
iii. The Canberra 2018 Trip must be fully paid for by Wednesday 28 February, 2018.
iv. The deposit for the plane seat is non-refundable. This will be between $50 and $100.

There will be a fundraising meeting on Wednesday 24 May, at 5:30pm in the school library. This is a great opportunity for parents to reduce the price of the trip and the buses required to take the students to and from the airport.

The timeline for payments is as follows;

1st Payment - $350 – due before Friday 11 August 2017
2nd Payment - $400 – due before Friday 3 November 2017
3rd Payment – approx. $350 - $400 (dependent upon fundraising) – due before Wednesday 28 February 2018

Payment plans are most welcome. (Please contact the office to arrange a payment plan)

SWPBS

Students in 3/4C have demonstrated their knowledge of relationships through discussing and recalling situations in the learning setting at school. They have joined in discussions and decided a good relationship means

  • Co-operating
  • Accepting differences and strengths
  • Helping others
  • Participating
  • Listening
  • Recognising rights and responsibilities

In large group discussions they have also discussed what being non-disruptive in the classroom means:

  • Be an active listener and following instructions
  • Follow adult directions
  • Respect personal space and property of others
  • Be co-operative and join in all class activities
  • Completing set work
  • Respecting the rights of others to learn.

These photos of 3/4C display skills of having a good relationship in the classroom, like being considerate, cooperative, participating and listening.

School Photos

Our School Photos will be taken on Thursday June 8. Please make sure you send your child in full school uniform (green school shirt, black shorts). Students will be photographed in class photos throughout the day. Family photos are not available. Please note that the incorrect code for online ordering was in last week’s newsletter, the correct code is; (FWQ 37K K51).

  • Envelopes for ordering have been sent home
  • Please use a separate envelope for each child

For the convenience of our school community, school photos can be ordered and paid for online using a secure online platform (see flyer inside your envelope).

PLEASE NOTE: Orders placed online DO NOT require an envelope to be handed in.

Envelope Orders: photos can also be purchased in the traditional manner using an envelope, with cash/cheque enclosed. Please send your envelope to school with payment by June 5.

The preference of our school is that orders and payments be made online, as this reduces the administration and associated security issues related to the return of cash & envelopes on photo day.

To place your order visit the link below and enter the code- (FWQ 37K K51). This code can also be found printed on your envelope. Please be aware that-

  1. All online orders should be placed on or before our day of photography.
  2. The online code above may also be used to order sports and other group photos.
