LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Hi Everyone,
Well done to all our students who attended the Disco on Friday night and had a great time.
Thank you to all of the parent helpers who assisted on the night. It was a great turn out!
Also, I would like to thank our staff who attended to support the students and P&C.
Last week a brief survey was sent home regarding part of our school uniform policy. This is your chance to have a say in the colour of the jacket and pants. Please send back your completed forms to the office by next Monday, June 5.
Results will be used to inform discussions around the uniform policy.
Road safety remains a high priority as always. Recently we have again seen parents parking on the yellow lines when dropping off and picking up children. We ask that you adhere to the road rules and do not park in the yellow line marked areas.
Last week we had a LEM Phonic facilitator visit each classroom to see how we are going with our implementation of the program.
I am pleased to say that the feedback was outstanding! Our teachers and teacher aides are doing a wonderful job, so much so he has asked to send staff from other schools to watch our lessons.
Kind Regards,
James Watt and Helen Grogan

SWPBS
Last week, Prep R focused on safety in the playground, discussing both unsafe and safe behaviours. The students then role-played safe playground behaviours, including:
- Using the playground and equipment safely and correctly
- Waiting for their turn to use the equipment
- Keeping their hands and feet to themselves
- Sharing and taking turns
- Walking on verandahs and cement pathways
- Wearing a hat and playing in shaded areas

This week, Prep R focused on expected behaviours for the toilets. The students discussed expected behaviours then, wrote and illustrated a sentence. Expected behaviours include:
- Walking to the toilet with a partner
- Closing the door
- Flushing the toilet
- Washing our hands with soap and water
- Waiting quietly and patiently for our partner
- Walking back to the playground with our partner

LEMS PHONICS
This week our rule is 14. Use ‘ck’ for the /k/ sound at the end of a syllable if preceded by a single vowel saying its first sound. Here are some words that fit this rule – back, track, shack, quack, sock. To help students in the lower school we call ‘ck’, two-letter ‘k’.
Next week our rule will be 15. Use ‘k’ for the /k/ sound if preceded by a single vowel saying its second sound. E.g. take, lake, bake, like, bike.
The LEM committee will be offering a second catch-up worshop to all interested parents and carers who couldn’t make it last time. This session will be on Friday 2nd June from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. in the library and will mainly deal with the multiple phonograms. Child minding is available so please join us if you can spare the time.
School Photos
Our School Photos will be taken on Thursday June 8. Please make sure you send your child in full school uniform (green school shirt, black shorts). Students will be photographed in class photos throughout the day. Family photos are not available. Please note that the incorrect code for online ordering was in last week’s newsletter, the correct code is; (FWQ 37K K51).
- Envelopes for ordering have been sent home
- Please use a separate envelope for each child
For the convenience of our school community, school photos can be ordered and paid for online using a secure online platform (see flyer inside your envelope).
PLEASE NOTE: Orders placed online DO NOT require an envelope to be handed in.
Envelope Orders: photos can also be purchased in the traditional manner using an envelope, with cash/cheque enclosed. Please send your envelope to school with payment by June 5.
The preference of our school is that orders and payments be made online, as this reduces the administration and associated security issues related to the return of cash & envelopes on photo day.
To place your order visit below and enter the code- (FWQ 37K K51). This code can also be found printed on your envelope. Please be aware that-
http://www.advancedlife.com.au
- All online orders should be placed on or before our day of photography.
- The online code above may also be used to order sports and other group photos.
All orders placed online will be delivered to the school for collection.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
- The Premier’s Reading Challenge has started and finishes the 25th August.
- Please record the books your child reads on the sheet – it must be signed by the parent.
- The Prep teachers will complete the reading record sheet at school.
- If you lose the Reading Record sheet or did not receive one, just ask at the office.
- The children who complete the challenge receive a certificate – this is a great way to reward our readers!
Happy Reading, Stacey Seed
