LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to term 3. A special welcome to the 15 new students and families who started at Jones Hill this week.

We finished term 2 with our annual Inter-house Sports Carnival. Congratulations to all the students who participated with a great spirit of sportsmanship. We were lucky to have great weather for the day.

I would also like to thank our school staff who put a lot of time and effort into these days to ensure they are successful.

It was also wonderful to see so many families and supporters in attendance to support the students.

Well done to our P&C members who ran the food and drinks for the day. The new approach to the menu was great!

Late last term Mr Rentz and I took our year 5 boys to take part in the Broncos Challenge. The boys played well throughout the day and grew stronger with each game. Well done boys! We look forward to the next round later this term.

Congratulations also go to the students who took part in the two school touch football teams last term. Mrs Bates was very proud of all the students who played and turned up to training and games every week. One of the teams went through to win the final. A great effort.

Kind Regards,
James Watt and Helen Grogan

2S focussed on learning in the classroom, discussing both examples and non-examples of the expected behaviour. Together they came up with some ideas and then wrote and illustrated them.

Being a great learner in the classroom means that you are;

  • Being an active listener and following instructions
  • Taking pride in personal effort and achievement
  • Following adult directions
  • Following classroom rules

We do this so that we and others can be and do our best in the classroom every day!

2S focussed on respect and relationships in the playground, discussing both examples and non-examples of the expected behaviour. Together they came up with some ideas and then role played them.

  • Play by the rules
  • Respect adults
  • Use respectful language and actions

We do this so that everyone can be happy and get along in the playground every day!

P&C NEWS

GYMPIE MUSTER

We have been lucky enough to secure a position at the Gympie Muster this year. The remuneration for this will contribute to all the necessities the P and C provides for the students of our school. Our role will be issuing armbands at the entrance gate to the muster, there is only one entrance gate and all equipment and training will be provided. We do need many volunteers to fill the shifts. As a bonus you will obtain a muster ticket to attend the muster on the day of volunteering for only $5, this is a huge saving as the muster tickets can cost up to $150 for an adult. Family and friends are welcome to volunteer but all volunteers must be over 18 years of age. Shifts will be available on Wednesday 23, Thursday 24, Friday 25, Saturday 26, and Sunday 27 August in the morning, afternoon and evening. Please register your interest with Col Morley 0417 778 294 or Jaime Young 0488 741 232 with your preferred day and time so that we can confirm your place.

BUILDING FUND DONATION

Tax Deductible Donation - School Building Fund

Would you consider making a donation to the P&C's School Building Fund? This is a very cost effective way to support the school. The fund is endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office and you can claim any donation of $2 or more as a tax deduction. All money donated will go towards improving school buildings or fittings and fixtures in school buildings.

Thank you to the families that generously donated to the building fund in 2016; your donations were used to help air condition the classrooms.

If you would like to know more, please download this form or pick up one from the school office.
