LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Hi Everyone
GYMPIE MUSTER
Congratulations to our P&C for a successful Muster fundraiser. This was our first return to the Muster since approximately 2009.
It took a large band of community volunteers to run the ticketing and entry gates. It is fantastic for our school to involved in this great community event.
Well done to all involved, I would especially like to acknowledge the efforts of our P&C president Col Morley who spent many hours organising and ensuring the success of our involvement.

Four of our students went on to compete in the Wide Bay Trials. Congratulations to the following two students who have been selected to participate in the Widebay Team, Tobias M for Discus and Breanna T for Shot Put.
STUDENT RESOURCE SCHEME
This year Jones Hill School ran a Student Resource Scheme that included a full stationery book list. The scheme was overwhelmingly supported by parents/caregivers and was very successful. As with all things, we are looking to improve this scheme and have already received some very good feedback from staff, parents and students. The operation of the Student Resource Scheme is discussed annually at a meeting of the Parents and Citizens’ Association. Parents are extended an invitation to attend this meeting and provided with an opportunity to express their opinions. A vote is taken at this meeting on supporting the operation of the scheme. The date for this P&C meeting is Tuesday 12 September. Shortly after this meeting we will ask the parents for written feedback in the newsletter. This will allow everyone to have input in to this excellent scheme.
Participation in the scheme is voluntary and no obligation is placed on a parent/guardian to participate. However, if you choose not to participate, you will be required to provide all textbooks and resources that would have been otherwise provided by participation in the scheme and pay a non-participation fee which will cover the cost of items such as Classroom learning activities, resources, textbooks (including photocopied textbooks used in lieu of traditional textbooks) and all licences for Computer Programs (this includes Apps for iPads). Full details of the Jones Hill Student Resource Scheme will be published in future newsletters to allow parents the opportunity to make informed decisions.
Kind Regards,
James Watt and Helen Grogan

SPRING FESTIVAL
On October 13 Jones Hill School will celebrate Spring with our Spring Festival. There will be something for everyone at our Spring Festival. We will have many displays, most interactive, that will showcase our local rural produce, livestock and home grown talent. The theme of the Spring Festival is sustainability and we will be educating the students about reusing materials, reducing waste and recycling. Many of the activities on the day require ‘used’ materials and to keep costs down we are asking that if you have any of the following and now have no use for, to send them into the school office for use on the day.
- Packets of seeds (flowers/vegetables)
- Toilet Rolls
- Bags of manure
- Potting Mix
- Buttons
- Old Socks
- Sewing needles
- Old Magazines (glossy ones are best)
- Egg Cartons
- Cardboard Milk Cartons
- Pot Plants that are no longer wanted
All students from years 1 to 6 will need to bring a sock.

Safety in the Playground written by Angel B 4/5 W
written by Angel B 4/5W
This week’s focus is safety in the playground. To be safe in the playground you need to use play equipment properly and walk on concrete to avoid injuries to yourself and others. You also need to be sun safe and wear a hat to protect your skin. If a teacher sees you playing safely in the playground, you will receive a thumbs up token. We focus on this to keep you and other students safe.
Respect in the classroom and learning settings written by Lilianna M 4/5 W
At our school we show respect in lots of ways. Some examples are; we listen to whoever is speaking, we put up our hands to speak and we never talk when someone else is talking. When we show respect we get rewarded by getting a thumbs up token or moving up on the traffic lights but the biggest reward is knowing that we've followed school rules. At our school we are well behaved and we love to show respect.
PREP 2018
Do you or someone you know have a child who will be attending Prep in 2018? Please contact our administration staff regarding registration. For information about our Prep Transition program please click on the link below.
