Canberra Jackets
Jones Hill students who will be visiting Canberra in just over three weeks would like to say a huge thank you to LOWES for sponsoring their jackets for this excursion. The black jackets are wonderfully warm and embroidered with our school logo on the front and our school initials across the back. Thanks to LOWES every student has the same jacket and this support has helped reduce the cost of this trip to families. The jackets also provide a great safety feature of allowing the staff to readily identify students at a glance.
Dance Fever
Jones Hill School will be running Dance Fever lessons again this year, in term 3. Students have been invoiced and payment needs to be completed by Friday June 29. These lessons are a part of the curriculum. Over the last three years the students have enjoyed these lessons immensely and then enjoyed showing off their new skills to their parents during a dance presentation at the end of the term.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is on again, running from May 14 to August 24. This year the Premier has challenged all state and non-state school students from Prep to Year 2 to read or experience 20 books, Years 3 and 4 to read 20 books and Years 5 to 9 to read 15 books. Experiencing books can include shared reading, listening to stories, or reading picture books. The aim for the 2018 challenge is to engage more students than ever before.
Students from year 1 to 6 have received forms to record the books they have read. More forms are available from the school office.
Prep students will have their reading recorded by their teacher.
Cleanaway Lessons
This week all students will be attending Cleanaway Lessons learning how to REUSE, RECYCLE and REDUCE and help the environment.

Friday June 15 our Senior Leaders are running a fundraiser for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal. On this day students are invited to wear their PJs and/or style their hair crazy. A gold coin donation will be collected.
