LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to the start of term 4. I hope you had an enjoyable Spring break and are ready for the run to Christmas!

I enjoyed the break with my family and a camping trip to Bargara. A great place to refresh.

We are preparing for an action packed term that will include Rewards Day, Awards Night, Year 6 Graduation, swimming lessons and carnival, High School Orientation, Christmas Concert and 2019 Prep Orientation.

I would like to congratulate again our students who have received scholarships to both James Nash and Gympie State High Schools. You have made your school, families and community very proud.

It has been a wonderful time over the last term meeting our new prep students and their families for 2019. It looks like we have another fantastic group of students starting their schooling life with us next year.

Most of the staffing processes for 2019 have taken place. I would like to congratulate Mr Bruce Powell who has received a transfer to Coolum State School next year.

Next year we will welcome back Ms Kelly Rozynski from Cloncurry and Mrs Natasha Hooklyn from Pormpuraaw.

I would also like to congratulate Mrs Stacey Dodd who received a permanent transfer to Jones Hill.

This week students have been involved in Cleanaway lessons with Eli Webb, learning about recycling and looking after our planet.

JAMES NASH SCHOLARSHIPS

Congratulations to year 6 students Keeley and Aidan who have received 2019 Scholarships from James Nash High School. Keeley has been awarded an Academy of Creative Arts Scholarship and Aidan received a Sporting/All Rounder Scholarship.

SWIMMING

Swimming for the below classes starts next Monday. Invoices, permission and medical forms were sent home prior to the holidays.

All forms must be returned and payment made prior to the first swimming lesson.

Students with overdue invoices will also be unable to participate until all outstanding fees are paid in full.

PD, PR AND PM will swim at Deep Blue Aquatics.

Year 3/4P, 4ML, 4W, 5C, 5N, 6C and 6G swim at Gympie South Pool.

Lesson Dates:

Week 2 – October 15
Week 3 – NO SWIMMING (Pupil Free Day)
Week 4 – October 29
Week 5 – November 5
Week 6 – November 12
Week 7 – November 19
Week 8 – November 26
Week 9 – December 3

YEARBOOK

Orders are now being taken for the 2018 Yearbook. Order forms were sent home this week. Please return order forms and payment by Friday October 26.

If you did not receive a form please see our office staff or click on the link below.

PREP 2019 - SECURE YOUR PLACE NOW

To help our new Prep students to have a smooth transition to school we are holding a number of transition days for them and their parents to attend. Full details of these days are available by clicking on the link below.

2019 SRS

Student Resource Scheme permission forms were sent home prior to the holidays. This form must be returned whether you are joining the scheme or not. Forms need to be returned by Friday 26 October and either full payment or a payment plan form attached by Friday 1 December. We have made some changes to the stationery list with input from parents and staff but the cost will remain the same at $120.

Families who make full payment before the end of the school year will go into the draw to win a LOWES voucher of $100 to purchase school uniforms.

For those parents who do not wish to join the program, a non-participation fee of $40 will be charged and you will be required to purchase a full stationery list. Parents will also need to pay for extra learning activity consumables such as cooking and computer programs, such as Reading Eggs and books that only the school can provide such as the Pat-R reading booklets. Due to the changes on the list, this year it is important that only the items on the list are purchased. Teachers have planned their stationery around the SRS and it is disruptive to the students when they do not have the same items as the rest of the class.

BOOK FAIR

Reading is Out of this World.

A Scholastic Book Fair is the perfect place for your child to discover new books and ignite their love for reading.

Book Fair is running next week, Monday 15 – Friday 19 October in the Library. EFTPOS available. 8am – 4pm daily.

Your support of Book Fair is always appreciated and helps to resource our School Library for our students.
