Leadership Team Report
Awards Night
Our annual Awards Night is this Thursday 3 December. On this night we recognise the hard work and dedication that students have strived for throughout the year. The night begins at 7pm in the school hall. We hope to see you there to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our students.
Christmas Concert
Wednesday 9 December is our school Christmas Concert. Students in each year level have been practising their performances and are very excited to showcase their talents for everyone on the night. So come along and celebrate the end of the school year with us and feel free to bring your family and friends with you.
Report Cards
Report cards will be sent home Monday December 7. The report card details the progress and performance for students in each learning area studied. Student effort and behaviour is also reported. If you have any questions about your child's report or progress, please contact the school.
Class Lists
Class lists will be pinned up under the administration office on Thursday December 10. The lists will display what class your child is in and who the teacher will be for 2016.
Swimming Carnival
Our annual swimming carnival was a fantastic day. Congratulations to all students in years 3 to 6 on their behaviour and participation. Well done to Mr McEnery and team for the preparation and hard work that makes the day so successful. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came to enjoy the day. Congratulations to this year's winning team, McPaul.
Face Book
Don't forget to check out and like our face book page.
Administration Building Upgrade
We have been given approval for an administration building upgrade. As at the beginning of 2016 our administration staff will be located in the current staffroom in the middle of the school. The change of building will allow better access for parents with prams or people with wheel chairs. We are looking forward to starting the year in our new look administration office.
Final Parade for 2016
We will have a final parade on Thursday December 10 at 9am in the hall to say goodbye to our year 6 students. Everyone is welcome to join us.
We would like to thank the parents and staff for a great year and your ongoing support. Jones Hill has a great culture and I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year as Principal here.
We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to a successful 2016.
Kind Regards,
James Watt and Helen Grogan

SCHOOL UNIFORMS
Parents are encouraged to purchase school uniforms for their children and to ensure they are worn each day. Uniforms play an important part of a student's life at Jones Hill School.
Listed here are some important reasons why our students wear school uniforms.
- Workplace health and safety, including our Sun Smart Policy
- Uniforms foster a sense of belonging
- Uniforms create a feeling of equality and reduces peer pressure
- Uniforms are easily identifiable and help promote the school within the wider community
- School uniforms may even help prepare students who may eventually work in industries that must wear uniforms such as the military or the emergency services.
Uniforms do much to develop school pride, help establish strong school unity and give students a sense of pride. At the start of 2016 there will be consequences for those students who continually do not wear the correct uniform as described in the school uniform policy. The school uniform policy was written in conjunction with, and is fully supported by the Jones Hill State School P&C.
Consequences for breach of the Uniform Policy include
- Discussion with students re Jones Hill SS Uniform Policy
- Verbal request to make necessary changes
- Detention in reflection room
- Contact with parent
- Withdrawal form relevant school activities
Please click the link below for the full Jones Hill School Uniform Policy
There are uniform purchasing days at the start of each school year and also each Friday morning from 8:30am to 9:30am, in the uniform shop. The P&C are also holding two extended sales days – Friday 20 November 8:30am to 1:30pm and Friday 22 January 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Payment of Invoices
Debtor Statements (a list of all invoices owing) will be sent home this week. Please remember we only have 2 weeks of school left so early payment of these invoices would be appreciated. Please be aware that students who have outstanding invoices run the risk of not being able to attend Breakup Day. If you are paying for Breakup Day by BPAY and have outstanding invoices, your payment will come off the older invoices first.
2016 BOOKLISTS
Booklists for 2016 will be sent home with students this week. This is a voluntary fundraiser run by our P&C committee and all money raised is put back into the school. If you wish to participate please send your completed booklist to the school office before Wednesday 9 December OR email the newsagency at nextragoldfields@bigpond.com by 7 December 2015. Orders can be collected and paid for from the Nextra Newsagency (Goldfields Plaza) from 4 January 2016.
2016 Student Resource Scheme
Each year we offer the parents the opportunity to join the Student Resource Scheme. We have been running this scheme now for the past 5 years and have had the majority of parents participate. The scheme operates with the full support of the Jones Hill State School P&C. It enables us to purchase books that are difficult for parents to purchase and we also get the books at wholesale prices. This year we have chosen to also include some textbooks to also eliminate the stress of book finding for back to school and also provide you once again with the best competitive price.
If you would prefer, prepayments can be made before Friday 11 December 2015. Please return your Student Resource Scheme participation form with your payment. Invoices will be issued in the first week of school. Those that have paid and sent in signed forms this year will receive all the resources listed on their participation form at the beginning of 2016.
During the past years, some parents chose not to participate in the scheme and also chose not to purchase the required text books. The school had decided not to disadvantage the children because of this, giving them the required resources. However, the school can no longer absorb this cost. This year, if you do not participate in the Student Resource Scheme you must purchase the items listed in the scheme. Please contact the office for a list of these items.
More information is available on the school website. If you wish to further clarify the value of the Student Resource Scheme, please don't hesitate to make an appointment to see the Principal or BSM.
Payment for the scheme must be paid in the first term unless other arrangements have been made.
