New student free days added to Term 4!

In recognition of the outstanding efforts of school staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, the last two days of the school year, Thursday 10 and Friday 11 December, have been declared student free days. Our school will be closed on these days.

Permissions are signed on the understanding that a student’s behaviour level may change during the time period leading up to Rewards Day. A drop or rise in behaviour level will change the Rewards Day activities that your child is eligible to attend.

Social Distancing Restrictions

Although students are able to be near each other in classrooms, we are still under the direction from Qld Health to adhere to social distancing rules for adults. Therefore, we are restricting adult contact in school, by asking parents/carers to not enter classrooms and to drop off and pick up children in safe locations, outside the school gates. Thank you for your assistance in helping to keep everyone safe.

Hygiene Measures

We will continue to implement strict hygiene measures to keep our students and staff safe. The following hygiene procedures will be followed at school.

  • regular handwashing and hand sanitising, particularly before and after eating, and after going to the toilet
  • encouraging students and staff to cough or sneeze into their elbow
  • increased cleaning of school classrooms, particularly high frequency touch points including water fountains or bubblers
  • regular cleaning of play equipment and materials
  • water bottles for personal use

Sick Students

It is essential that parents/carers keep children home from school if they are unwell. In accordance with Queensland Health Directives parents or carers of any child showing signs of illness will be asked to collect them immediately from the school. If a child is being tested for CO-VID, parents/carers need to inform the school by contacting the office on 54 890555.

Kind Regards,

James Watt - Principal
Stacey Seed – Deputy Principal

JAPANESE CORNER

With Sensei

Minna-san konnichwa,

Assessments are coming up. Homework is piling up. The work is really difficult. I just want the holidays to hurry up and get here!!!! Does this sound like you right now?? Well, please remember this:

Keizoku wa chikara nari: Continuance is power.

Meaning: Don't give up. Just showing perseverance will reveal strength and power. Continuing on after a setback is its own kind of strength. Not giving up is power.

See you all in Japanese class.

From

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR

The SWPBS focus for last week was displaying all values during parade. (Respect, Learning, Relationships & Safety)

On Friday, 3D practiced:-

  • Quietly entering and exiting the hall.
  • Showing respect during parade, by sitting quietly and listening.
  • Following instructions given by teachers and school leaders.
  • Applauding when appropriate.
  • Singing the National Anthem respectfully.

The SWPBS focus for this week is relationships in the classroom and learning settings. We brainstormed what good relationships in the classroom means:-

  • Co-operating
  • Accepting differences, strengths and challenges
  • Helping others
  • Participating
  • Listening
  • Recognising rights and responsibilities

Then we acted out some relationship scenarios and discussed how we could solve them.

  • When someone opens your tidy tray without asking permission?
  • When a peer is talking to you while the teacher is giving instructions?
  • When a group member is not co-operating?

We concluded that how we REACT to a situation along with what we SAY makes a big difference to whether the outcome will be positive or negative.
