YEAR 2 SLEEPOVER CAMP
The year 2s enjoyed a sleepover at school last Friday night. The children thoroughly enjoyed the activities, games, movie and sleeping in the hall, even though it was a bit cold in the morning. Thank you to the staff and parents who organised this camp and made this a great experience for the children.
BOOK WEEK
Last week Jones Hill celebrated Book Week. The week consisted of competitions and activities in the library, an author visit with Chris Collins and the dress up on Friday as a book character. The students and staff showed their love of reading and books through some wonderful and creative costumes. The children were excited to talk about their favourite books and everyone joined in the fun.

MATH
The Year Five students are beginning a new unit of work on measurement. Before we can convert between units of measurement, we must understand the relationship between the different “houses” in our place value system. A real world, tangible example helps us to visualise not only hundreds, tens and ones, but also tenths, hundredths and thousandths, or even ten thousands, hundred thousands and millions.

YEAR 2 CAMP
On Friday, 27 August 50 year 2 students and staff were lucky enough to spend the night camping at school. For some students this was their first school camp experience.
Students had a great time sleeping in the hall, playing games and activities on the oval, and adventuring out for a night spotlight bush walk. Thank you to the year two teachers and staff for helping make this night a great success for students.

Social Distancing Restrictions
Although students are able to be near each other in classrooms, we are still under the direction from Qld Health to adhere to social distancing rules for adults. Therefore, we are restricting adult contact in school, by asking parents/carers to not enter classrooms and to drop off and pick up children in safe locations, outside the school gates or as arranged by the teacher. Thank you for your assistance in helping to keep everyone safe.

- encouraging students and staff to cough or sneeze into their elbow
- increased cleaning of school classrooms, particularly high frequency touch points including water fountains or bubblers
- regular cleaning of play equipment and materials
- individual water bottles for personal use
