LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Hi Everyone,
We have reached the end of another busy and successful year for our Jones Hill community.
As we head into the Christmas break I would like to congratulate our staff, students and families on the success of the year. We have completed facilities projects, won a State Showcased Award and seen excellent improvements in the learning of our students.
I would like to wish our staff leaving Jones Hill success on their new adventures next year.
Mrs Calvert will head into retirement and enjoy traveling with Mr Calvert and seeing the sights around the country. I would like to thank her for her support of our students and staff and stepping up when we needed her. Her contribution to education in general has been outstanding.
Mrs Hooklyn is transferring to One Mile SS next year and will be a valuable asset to their team, teaching prep. I would like to thank her for her contribution since returning from teaching in Far North QLD. Mrs Hooklyn was a key member in establishing our LEM phonics program and I wish her all the best.
Mr Walters will take up an opportunity at James Nash SHS next year in the English department. Mr Walters has provided a great two years at Jones Hill and bought some great colour and fun to our team. We wish Mr Walters all the best as he takes on a new chapter in his teaching career.
On a final note, I would like to wish the year six students moving onto high school all the best for their next chapter of learning.
I hope you all have a great break and enjoy a safe New Year with friends and family.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Weather permitting our annual Christmas Concert will be held tonight on our new outdoor stage area. The concert will start at 5pm and all grades and the staff will be performing.
The P&C will be running a sausage sizzle and selling cold drinks from 5pm. Come along and enjoy our end of year celebrations. Please bring a camping chair so you can sit in comfort.

We were honoured to share the accomplishments of our students, the great work they have shown this year, their positive attitude and achievements in a variety of areas including, Instrumental Music, Reading, Academic, Most Improved, Leadership, Japanese, Sport and Learning Enhancement. GRADUATION
On Monday night we held the Year 6 Graduation. This was a very special event to celebrate the end of primary school for our year 6 students. They received graduation gifts of a pen, signature bear, certificate and photo. The children had the opportunity to remember friends they have made, the good times they have shared, their achievements and for parents and families to be proud of the young people they have grown into over their primary school years. Thank you to Mrs Crow, Mr Callaghan, Mrs Calvert, Mrs Drury, Mrs Gills, Mr Cunningham and our wonderful staff behind the scenes who made the night a memorable occasion for all.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS FUNDRAISER
As a lot of you know my husband and I have a large Christmas light display every year. This year we have some very special new lights for everyone to enjoy. Our light display will run from December 1 to December 25. Lights will be switched on at approximately 7pm each night and turn off around 9pm Sunday to Thursday and 10pm Friday and Saturday.
We welcome everyone to drop in and view the lights. Please feel free to get out of the car for a closer look. Cold drinks and Zooper Doopers will be on sale and on Friday November 17, sausages on bread will also be available. For $1 you will also be able to take a guess on how many light bulbs make up the zig zag pattern on the side of our house. Funds raised from these sales, or from donations placed in our wishing well, will all be donated to the Queensland Cancer Council. We hope to see many familiar faces and hope our display brings a bit of Christmas cheer into many lives.

Social Distancing Restrictions
Although students are able to be near each other in classrooms, we are still under the direction from Qld Health to adhere to social distancing rules for adults. Therefore, we are restricting adult contact in school, by asking parents/carers to not enter classrooms and to drop off and pick up children in safe locations, outside the school gates or as arranged by the teacher. Thank you for your assistance in helping to keep everyone safe.
Hygiene Measures
We will continue to implement consistent hygiene measures to keep our students and staff safe. The following hygiene procedures are in place at school.
- regular handwashing and hand sanitising, particularly before and after eating, and after going to the toilet
- encouraging students and staff to cough or sneeze into their elbow
- increased cleaning of school classrooms, particularly high frequency touch points including water fountains or bubblers
- regular cleaning of play equipment and materials
- individual water bottles for personal use
