LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Hi Everyone,
After the ups and downs of last week, we are hoping for a more settled week. Thank you for your support during the many events of the last two weeks.
We hope that everyone is recovering from any damage caused by the flooding and looking forward to dryer times.
This week we saw the easing of the Qld Government’s Back to School Plan.
Masks are no longer required to be worn indoors. If staff or students would like to continue wearing them, they can.
We welcome parents back into classrooms. If you have organised to be a parent helper in your child’s class you will need to sign in at the office, use the Check In app to show staff your vaccination status. Classroom Volunteers will also need to see office staff for a copy of the Volunteers Induction Guide. This is not required if you are just dropping off and picking up your children.
If staff or students are exhibiting flu like symptoms we are still required to send them home and will provide a Rapid Antigen Test.
Parades will return to normal and we welcome parents to attend. Excursions and camps can now also go ahead.
We are really looking forward to some more normal activities for the rest of the term.

NAPLAN ONLINE
NAPLAN is used by governments, education authorities and schools to determine whether young Australians are meeting important goals in literacy and numeracy.
All students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are expected to sit the NAPLAN tests, which are held in May each year.
NAPLAN gives a snapshot of how children are performing in reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and numeracy. It complements other effective classroom assessment and reporting practices.
In 2020, federal, state and territory education ministers agreed that all schools will transition to delivering NAPLAN online by 2022.
Benefits of online testing include:
- 'tailored testing', which gives students questions better suited to their ability, resulting in more precise results
- improving student engagement through computer-based tests.
2022 Test dates
NAPLAN testing window — 10–20 May 2022.
For information regarding the NAPLAN testing timetable, contact your child’s school or visit ACARA’s NAPLAN test timetables website.
This document summarises the session time of each test and lists the materials allowed.

For all eligible year levels (Years 3, 5, 7 and 9) there are 4 test domains: writing, reading, conventions of language and numeracy. Below is a summary of the format for each test.
- Writing: Students are given a stimulus and asked to construct a response to the task. Their response will be based on a particular text type (narrative or persuasive). Students in Years 3 and 5 will receive different writing stimuli to students in Years 7 and 9, both of the same genre. All Year 3 students sit the writing test on paper.
- Reading: Students are given a range of texts to read. They respond to the test items using a range of response types such as multiple choice, hotspot and drag and drop items.
- Conventions of language: Students will respond to grammar and punctuation as well as spelling items. The response formats will be multiple choice, short response and other interactive response types such as hotspot and drag and drop items.
- Numeracy: Students will respond to numeracy items. The response formats will be multiple choice, short response and other interactive response types such as hotspot and drag and drop items. Students will also have access to online numeracy tools (ruler, protractor or calculator), depending on their year level. For Years 7 and 9, the numeracy test includes a non-calculator section and a calculator-allowed section.
