LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Hi Everyone,
Road Safety
The safety of our children is everyone’s responsibility. Parents/carers please park in allocated car parks. Parking illegally causes a safety issue as other drivers cannot see children crossing the road. Use the pedestrian crossings on McIntosh Creek Rd and Heilbronn Rd to walk across the road when collecting or dropping off your children. The police have been patrolling around our school and we appreciate their support to keep everyone safe.
Inclusion Scan and Assess
This week Jones Hill welcomed the Inclusion Scan and Assess Team. The staff, some parents and students had the opportunity to speak to the team about Inclusive Education. They were very impressed with the dedication and supportive staff at Jones Hill, the overwhelmingly positive responses from parents and students to make everyone feel welcome, a sense of belonging and supported.
Book Week
At Jones Hill we love reading and have some excellent readers who enjoy books, digital texts and other forms of literature. We will be celebrating Book Week – 22nd – 26th August and the theme is: Dreaming with Eyes Open. Remember to get your costume ready as we are all dressing up this Friday 26th August. There will be a competition in the library, the Read-a-thon and an author visit with Karen Foxlee.
Read-a-thon
At Jones Hill we have wonderful readers! We are encouraging all student to participate in the Read-a-thon this week as part of Book Week, 22nd – 26th August. All forms were sent home or you can get a form from the office. All funds raised need to go on the QKR! Money raised goes to the P&C for purchase of books and resources for reading. Students who raise $10 or more get to choose a show bag. The students who raise the most money receive some books and treats.
Math Team Challenge
A group of aspiring mathematicians from Year 5 and 6 got the chance to participate in the Gympie region Maths Teams Challenge. Both teams worked very hard and had heaps of fun competeting against about 20 teams made up of the regions best math students. Whilst Jones Hill didn’t walk away with any medals, one of our teams scored second place in the first round of challenges! All the students tried their best and should be highly commended for their efforts and behaviour.

Kind Regards,
James Watt - Principal
