LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

We have almost reached the end of the 2022 school year. This year has been a very successful and busy one with many events including the Cairns Trip for our senior students, the Spring Festival, Colour Run 4 Fun, ANZAC Day ceremonies, Year 3 camp to Luther Heights, Year 4 camp to Barambah, High Ropes Days, Sports Day and numerous excursions.

As we head into the Christmas Break, I would like to congratulate our staff, students and families on all that has been accomplished this year. We have completed facilities projects, with our ANZAC Memorial Wall, Outdoor Learning Area, Hall upgrade, new fence, Specialist Building and Staffroom refurb. Our students have achieved some wonderful results, with 95% of students in Prep to year 6, achieving a C or better in English. An outstanding achievement.

We would like to wish our staff leaving Jones Hill, the very best in their future endeavours.

Mr Callaghan will be on leave next year and is looking forward to some peace and quiet and travelling with his wife. Mr Callaghan’s sense of humour, expertise and contribution to our school has been invaluable and we look forward to his return in 2024.

Ms Fitzgerald has accepted a transfer to Kilkivan SS and we would like to thank her for preparing our year 6 students for high school and being a valuable part of the Jones Hill team this year. We wish her all the best at her new school next year and the next chapter in her teaching career.

Mrs Nolan has been teaching the year 4/5 class for most of this year and we would like to thank her for the work she has done and fitting in so well with Jones Hill Team.

Mrs Picone is taking leave in Term 1 and will be teaching at schools closer to her home next year. We would like to thank Mrs Picone for teaching the 5PD class and for her enthusiasm with the Eco Garden and the environment.

Mrs Dunn will be on leave next year as she completes some study. We would like to take this opportunity to wish her all the best as she studies to become a Speech Language Pathologist. Mrs Dunn shared the teaching of the 5PD class this year with Mrs Picone and students will miss their ‘brain breaks’ and Mrs Dunn’s endless energy.

We have been fortunate to have Mrs Kropp teaching The Arts in semester 2. Thank you to Mrs Kropp for her dedication and commitment to teaching the students Dance units. We look forward to seeing Mrs Kropp around Jones Hill school again next year.

Finally, we would like to wish the year 6 students heading into high school, the very best for their future education and hope they continue to achieve and are successful in their lives. We would also like to thank the parents who will also finish with Jones Hill as their children transition to high school.

We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2023.
