LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
Welcome back to the start of the 2023 school year.
I hope everyone has had a restful and enjoyable Christmas break. I spent 4 weeks travelling with my family around Tasmania. What a great place, with beautiful scenery.
Welcome to our new staff who have joined the Jones Hill Family.
Katy Booth on 5B, Rachel Fleming on 3F, Keelee Bosworth on 4/5B, Jessica Barnes on 6B and Leanne Janson joining the Support Team.
Welcome back to Mrs Berry, who returns from maternity leave this year and Mrs Rose to the Arts role.
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new families who have joined us this year and a big hello to our returning families.
The first few days of the term have been a fantastic start for students and staff with students looking very settled in their new learning environments.
Just a couple of reminders:
Playground equipment is out of bounds before and after school for all students and visitors. Please ensure you keep your children off the equipment.
Road safety is very important. Please take care around the crossings and carparks, ensuring to park in designated areas.
Please label all your child’s belongings to make it easier to return them when lost.
We are looking forward to a great year. Our explicit targets this year are the improvement of writing and spelling for all students.
Have an enjoyable Australia Day.
SWIMMING
Swimming for 3F, 3/4B, 4G, 4/5B, 5B, 5S, 6B and 6C will start on Monday, January 30. These classes will attend lessons every Monday till the end of Term 1.
The Learn to Swim Program is part of the Australian Curriculum and an essential skill for children to develop. Please ensure students have a towel, rashie, togs and wear sun screen.
Permission notes and medical forms have been sent home and invoices emailed. Please return forms and make payment by Friday, January 27. For easy payment please download the QKR! app.
Those who have the QParent app can digitally sign their permission forms.
SUN SAFETY
Students must bring and wear a school hat. Sun safety is part of the Australian Health Curriculum and all students are taught the importance of protecting their skin. Please ensure your child has a hat every day and it is clearly named. Any lost hats with a name, will be returned to their owner.
STUDENT ABSENCE
Each parent of a child who is of compulsory school age
has the legal obligation to ensure their child is enrolled and attends a
state school or a non-state school, on every school day for the educational
program in which the child is enrolled, unless the parent has a reasonable
excuse. The safety and wellbeing of students are the highest priorities for
the Department. Parents need to know if their child hasn't turned up
for school, and schools need to know when and why a child is absent.
Parents are required to contact the school on, or prior, to a student being
absent. Absences may be reported by phone, written note or by using the
QParent App. State schools will be required to notify parents on the same
day that any student is absent from school without explanation. The school
will send out daily SMS text messages to notify parents that their child is
absent and allows a reply service for you to explain the absence.
