LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT
LEADERSHIP PARADE
Last Friday, we had the Leadership Parade where the School Captains, House Captains and Leadership Team received their badge, pinned on by their very proud parents/carers. Congratulations to all of these students as they take on leadership responsibilities in the school and are role models for younger students. The 2023 School Captains are Indy and Kyran, the House Captains are: McPaul – Summer and Jakob, Doran – Lily and Mason, Radford – Inca and Zander. We are looking forward to seeing these students ‘lead the way’ at Jones Hill.

NAPLAN ONLINE
Students will be sitting NAPLAN between 15 and 27 March 2023.
NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students are already learning at school. On its own, NAPLAN is not a test that can be studied for, and students are not expected to do so.
NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process –it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance; however, students and parents may use individual results to discuss progress with teachers.
This is the first year NAPLAN will be held in March, having previously taken place in May. This change was made so school systems would have access to results earlier in the school year, so they can be used to inform teaching and learning plans for the remainder of the year.

STUDENT SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT
During the holiday break, Riley from year 6 was selected to represent Gympie, and play for Wide Bay in Under 12’s Cricket.
The team played in the Ian Healy Cup Tournament during the 9th - 13th January 2023 in Brisbane.
Riley was selected to captain the team during this tournament. Riley held a massive responsibility as the captain of the team, displaying leadership qualities that were beyond his years. Riley’s performance with batting, bowling and fielding during the week were also an exceptional contribution for the team.
Riley was recognised for all of his efforts in the team and was awarded ‘Coaches Player of the Match’ for his outstanding captaincy of the Wide Bay Team and his consistent performance during the tournament!

FROM THE BUSINESS MANAGER
Hi Everyone,
YEAR 5 CAMP
Students in year 5 will now have received their invoices and permission forms for their camp at Currimundi. Payment and all forms need to be completed and returned by Friday, February 17. If your child is not attending the camp, please let our school administration team know as soon as possible.
QKR!
Please check your child's QKR! profile. Ensure you have the child's name and have updated their class for 2023. This will enable payments to be processed easier and tuckshop to be delivered to the correct student in the right classroom.
PAYMENTS
Just a reminder, if at any time you are having financial difficulties and are unable to pay an invoice in full, we can arrange a payment plan. These can either be via BPoint or Centrepay. You can also pay instalments at our school office. An example would be making six easy payments of $5 per week for swimming.
Should you wish to discuss a payment plan, please contact our administration team.
QParents
For parents who would like to opportunity to be able to digitally sign permission forms you will need to join the QParents app. Information is attached regarding the QParents app which also offers many other services. A letter will be sent home in the near future to explain how to join the app but if you would like access sooner, please contact the office on 54890555.

PEER SKILLS LEADERS
Jones Hill State School is proud to announce the Peer Skills Leaders for 2023. These students have been chosen as they are kind, work well with kids of all ages and want to make Jones Hill (and the world) even more wonderful than it already is.
Quite often when children have a problem in their life, they confide in another child before they talk to an adult. The Peer Skills Leaders have been trained in how to help children solve their own problems.
The students at Jones Hill have been told that if they have a problem and they don’t want to speak to an adult, then they can come to one of the Peer Skills Leaders.
