LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

LEADERSHIP PARADE

Last Friday, we had the Leadership Parade where the School Captains, House Captains and Leadership Team received their badge, pinned on by their very proud parents/carers. Congratulations to all of these students as they take on leadership responsibilities in the school and are role models for younger students. We are looking forward to seeing these students ‘lead the way’ at Jones Hill.

NAPLAN ONLINE

Students will be sitting NAPLAN between 15 and 27 March 2023.

NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students are already learning at school. On its own, NAPLAN is not a test that can be studied for, and students are not expected to do so.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process –it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance; however, students and parents may use individual results to discuss progress with teachers.

This is the first year NAPLAN will be held in March, having previously taken place in May. This change was made so school systems would have access to results earlier in the school year, so they can be used to inform teaching and learning plans for the remainder of the year.

STUDENT SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT

During the holiday break, Riley from year 6 was selected to represent Gympie, and play for Wide Bay in Under 12’s Cricket.

The team played in the Ian Healy Cup Tournament during the 9th - 13th January 2023 in Brisbane.

Riley was selected to captain the team during this tournament. Riley held a massive responsibility as the captain of the team, displaying leadership qualities that were beyond his years. Riley’s performance with batting, bowling and fielding during the week were also an exceptional contribution for the team.

Should you wish to discuss a payment plan, please contact our administration team.

PEER SKILLS LEADERS

Jones Hill State School is proud to announce the Peer Skills Leaders for 2023. These students have been chosen as they are kind, work well with kids of all ages and want to make Jones Hill (and the world) even more wonderful than it already is.

Quite often when children have a problem in their life, they confide in another child before they talk to an adult. The Peer Skills Leaders have been trained in how to help children solve their own problems.

The students at Jones Hill have been told that if they have a problem and they don’t want to speak to an adult, then they can come to one of the Peer Skills Leaders.
