LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORT

NEW FENCE – PLEASE CLOSE THE GATES

To ensure the safety of all of our students, when you enter or leave the school grounds, please close the gates. The gates that lead out to the carpark near Prep, (on the corner of McIntosh Creek Road and Heilbronn Road) have been left open on multiple occasions. Thank you for your help to keep our students safe.

SECOND ZOOPER DOOPER FUNDRAISER

Thank you to everyone who supported the year 5 students in their endeavour to raise funds to reduce the cost for the year 5/6 annual camp in 2024.

They will be holding a second Zooper Dooper sale on Monday, March 20. Zooper Doopers will be available from the tuckshop for $1, first and second break.

YEAR 5 CAMP

Last week, Year 5s went to Currimundi for camp. They had three days of team work, building their confidence, developing their leadership skills and having fun. The students were involved in raft building, archery, high ropes, swimming, games on the beach and exploring caves. Thank you to Mrs Albrecht and Mr Dunn, who volunteered their time to attend the camp with the year 5 students. Your help was greatly appreciated. The camp was a wonderful learning experience for the children.

QKR!

Please check your child's QKR! profile. Ensure you have the child's name and have updated their class for 2023. This will enable payments to be processed easier and able tuckshop to be delivered to the correct student in the right classroom.

NAPLAN ONLINE

Students will be sitting NAPLAN between 15 and 27 March 2023.

NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students are already learning at school. On its own, NAPLAN is not a test that can be studied for, and students are not expected to do so.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process –it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance; however, students and parents may use individual results to discuss progress with teachers.

This is the first year NAPLAN will be held in March, having previously taken place in May. This change was made so school systems would have access to results earlier in the school year, so they can be used to inform teaching and learning plans for the remainder of the year.

YEAR 5 CAMP

Last week, year 5 got to go on the most amazing camp to Currimundi. We enjoyed activities such as caving, completing a three storey Ninja Warrior course, raft building, archery and beach games.

The food was delicious (except for the rice). The teachers, parents and activity facilitators were friendly and helpful and it was a brilliant experience that will stay with us forever.

Thank you to our teachers for organising this trip. From the Jones Hill Year 5 students.

Jack, Charlotte, Lachlan and Sadie.
